Thick layer of straw in base for added nutrients and to prevent pests and disease. Very large hole in base of pot for drainage. Planted in 20/70 sand/cactus mix for drainage and less water retention. Layer of rocks on top for decoration and added weight to hold the cactus sturdy. This guy will keep giving and giving. Gently cut the babies off and stick them in dirt and before you know it, you have a whole new plant growing!
